Flag-waving crowds greeted her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to the city today as she paid a visit to Chichester Festival Theatre.
Several hundred people braved plunging temperatures to wait and greet the monarch but the sun shone brightly as she headed into the theatre to see excerpts from various stage productions, including comic actor Omid Djalili starring in Fiddler on the Roof. He performed a rousing rendition of If I Were A Rich Man.
As well as loyal subjects showing their appreciation of the Queen, of course, the city’s great and the good were in attendance including Mayor of Chichester Peter Evans, who was in the welcoming party.
Heralding the visit, the official Twitter account for the Royal Family tweeted a picture of the Queen arriving with the message:
“Continuing the day in West Sussex, Her Majesty arrives at Chichester Festival Theatre, where she will watch a performance by the Chichester Festival Youth Theatre.”
Her Majesty arrived after a trip to the Canine Partners National Training Centre in Midhurst, where she saw dogs and their volunteer carers.
She watched a demonstration by assistance dogs in their final stages of training before viewing the accommodation used by partners who are meeting and training their assistance dogs, and meet partners and staff in the kitchen.
