Chichester’s very own cabaret club is set to host a fund-raising night that promises “stunning burlesque, high kicking camp and musical treats”.

Organiser, performer and host Dawn Gracie, well known as an entertainer and producer of vintage and burlesque shows, set up the the Chichester Cabaret Club last year.

Now the club will host the charity event on Saturday and is preparing for an evening of cabaret, burlesque and glamour, at the city’s Pallant Suite. The fun is in aid of the Bold is Beautiful project. All monies will go towards the two charities Look Good Feel Better (supporting women with cancer) and Refuge (for women and children against domestic abuse).

“Prepare for an extra special Chichester Cabaret Club which has added extras on offer with the aim of raising as much money as possible for the charities,” says an editorial promoting the show.

“Not only will there be a spectacular two-hour cabaret show from 7.45pm, showcasing beautiful burlesque from Brazeb Bijoux, Athena Beauvoir, Cherry Shakewell, Lolita Yves and Amethyst Blush and high-kicking mayhem from your hostess Dawn Gracie.”

Explaining how Chichester Cabaret Club started, Dawn’s website (www.dawnsvintagedo.com) says: “Having produced cabaret nights around Sussex and Hampshire for many years, from theatres to decommissioned churches and stunning piers, Dawn wanted to offer her hometown of Chichester something they so desperatley needed.

“The beautiful cathedral city is not known for it’s bustling nightlife or underground avant garde scene so when Dawn moved from Brighton in 2004 she realised there was going to have to be a drastic overhaul of her social life.”

The website adds that to keep herself out of mischief, Dawn joined a five piece band then eight years later after unexpected “best dressed” win at Goodwood Revival she left her job to work as a full-time vintage singer. Then through her love of the burlesque and drag scene, she started teaching body confidence skills and producing small shows which toured the counties.

Then last year Dawn decided to produce bi-monthly cabaret nights for the city – the next of which is taking place on April 29, at gallant Suite, 7 South Pallant, Chichester.
