Hundreds of smiling children were excited to greet the newest lamb arrivals at an event at Chichester College’s Brinsbury campus last weekend.
Roughly 1,000 people attended the Lambing Live event held at the vast campus, which is home to lakes, large woodlands and a working farm.
Visitors enjoyed meeting the new additions in the lambing shed, experiencing the animal centre and some even had a tractor ride around the farm.
Guests were also given a good taste for farm life as they could observe several ewes delivering their lambs.
More than 200 people from First Steps Nursery, one of the largest childcare providers in West Sussex, were delighted with the event, including Kelly Pink, who visited with her two sons.
She said: “The boys had a great time, despite the rain. They loved cuddling the lambs and were fascinated by the unusual animals at the animal centre – especially the stick insects!”
Even with the wet weather we still had so many people attend the event which was great, says Alex Hollands, farm manager at Brinsbury.
He added: “It was a fantastic weekend. It’s always great to see so many families enjoying a day out in the countryside – even if the weather wasn’t quite as spring-like as we’d have hoped!
“We all had a great time meeting our visitors and introducing them to our lambs, piglets and calves.”
Those who missed the event will still have a chance to see the animals as local school and scout groups will be visiting the campus for additional Lambing Live experiences.
