Oliver Martello achieved three A* grades in maths, further maths and physics and is going on to study maths at Warwick University.

He said: “I’m relieved, surprised and over the moon! I’m so happy to have got in to my first choice university after working so hard and putting in so much effort over the past two years.

“I was convinced I wasn’t going to get there and I had prepared myself for clearing, but I got in and I’m really excited!”

Joe Collen and Alex Wiseman collected their results together and were delighted to be going to the universities of their choice.

Joe received an A* in creative writing and two Bs in history and law, while Alex achieved A in creative writing and B grades for drama and English literature.

Alex, who will be studying scriptwriting and performance at UEA (University of East Anglia), said: “It’s not the grades I had exactly hoped for, but I’m happy to be going to UEA and making the next step. The lecturers here have been really supportive. It’s been a good experience and now I’m on to a new pathway.”

Joe, who is going to Bristol University to study international relations and politics, added that he felt Chichester College had helped to prepare him for the next steps: “Coming to college has almost been a transition for us.

“We’ve been supported, the teaching has been great but to be able to more independent has probably set us up really well. After two years, it makes all the hard work worthwhile and I’m looking forward to going to university now – I feel ready!”

Georgia Biggs is also excited by the prospect of her next steps as she prepares to move to the Midlands to study childhood studies (practitioner status) at University College of Birmingham. She said: “I’m very excited – I’m moving in two weeks. It was my first choice and I’m really happy to have got what I needed. I can’t wait to start.”
